Video
Bringing our brand to life through motion
Video is one of our most powerful storytelling tools. It engages audiences in ways few other mediums can and plays a critical role in shaping how people experience the GE HealthCare brand.
When video content aligns in tone, style and quality, it reinforces a cohesive and recognizable brand presence. These Video Guidelines support that consistency by helping creators produce high-quality, on-brand content that resonates with their intended audience and builds trust over time.
Video direction
Capturing an authentic moment matters more than achieving a perfectly composed frame.
Avoid staged environments, flawless lighting, dramatic framing or exaggerated performances. Our videos should feel documentary in style, grounded in real settings where the subject and story unfold naturally.
Show:
- Genuine moments of connection
- People who feel comfortable and at ease
- Impromptu scenarios rather than posed interactions
- Natural behaviors and gestures that clearly demonstrate how to use the product
When showcasing hardware, present products in their real-world environment with honesty and accuracy.

Audience and voice
Audience
Many of our videos speak to customers, including clinicians, administrators, researchers, scientists, investors and technical decision-makers. Focus on helping them achieve their goals and create the video they want to watch.
Most audiences are short on time. Deliver the core message early and avoid burying the key takeaway. Make the first moments clear, direct and concise.
Match the story and level of detail to the audience’s expertise. Simple visual and narrative approaches help busy viewers stay focused.
From pre-production onward, define both primary and secondary audiences and plan the content accordingly.
Voice
Our videos should demonstrate expertise grounded in experience and evidence. They should position GE HealthCare as a trusted, strategic partner committed to advancing innovation and enabling precision care.
Tone
Strike a balance between:
- Professional and pioneering
- Informative and inspirational
- Compassionate and empathetic
- Concise and clear
Avoid:
- Arrogance
- Unnecessary complexity
- An overly casual or overly formal tone
Lighting and tone
Use light in a way that feels natural and believable. Create a balanced interplay of light and shadow to add depth and contrast. In spaces without natural light, replicate real-world conditions rather than studio lighting.
Our human-first brand personality shapes the tone of every shot. Embrace a warm, slightly desaturated look. Warmth conveys care and creates a sense of comfort and encouragement. Subtle desaturation enhances authenticity.
Avoid highly stylized treatments. Videos should feel raw and real, capturing honest moments that remain grounded in authenticity.

Imagery
Stock libraries
Using high-quality stock footage is acceptable and can strengthen your content when used thoughtfully.
When licensing stock video, secure the appropriate permissions and rights for the intended use, distribution and duration. Footage must be royalty-free and approved for sharing across channels, international regions and external agencies in perpetuity.
Share licensed stock video and all supporting documentation with the brand team for upload to the Image Library. Contact the brand team at brand.health@gehealthcare.com.
Photography and other still imagery usage
We show real people in real environments. Our photography takes an intimate, realistic approach that highlights our products, the people behind our innovations and the professionals and patients who use them.
Visit the Image Library to explore available photography.
When depicting our technology, avoid overproduced or layered visual effects.
Our digital solutions are as important as our physical products. Ensure screenshots of user interfaces are high quality, accurate and crisp across screens and devices.
Music and narration
Music
Music is a powerful storytelling tool. It works subtly in the background to shape emotion and strengthen engagement.
The right track can add energy and pace, create drama and urgency or convey poignancy and warmth. Select music that reflects the emotion you want to evoke, enhances the creative execution and aligns with our brand personality.
When sourcing from stock libraries, choose licensed or royalty-free tracks that meet usage requirements. Never use unlicensed music.
Narration (voice overs)
When producing narrated videos, define preferred voice-over characteristics early, including gender, age range, accent and nationality to reflect our global organization. Develop a shortlist of talent options during the selection phase.
Deliver narration in a professional and concise tone. The delivery should reflect our experience principles by feeling approachable, compassionate, optimistic and visionary.
Formatting and production
Video formatting
Match the resolution and compression of final video files to the intended display platform. Do not use uncompressed files unless specifically required.
Standard video file format
MP4 compressed using high-quality H.264 or H.265
Minimum resolution of 1080p
16:9 aspect ratio
Typical resolution for large screen display
Video files created for social media must follow the specifications of each platform.
LinkedIn supports aspect ratios between 1:2.4 and 2.4:1. Here are four typical sizes:
1:1
square
4:5
portrait
9:16
vertical
16:9

Check the specifications of your selected channel.
Video review and submission
Before approving a video, complete the required reviews:
- Central brand team to confirm the content and style align with the GE HealthCare brand
- Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, particularly in manufacturing environments
- Legal and Regulatory through Veeva to review claims and releases and confirm the content does not include misleading or unsubstantiated statements
- Clinical experts to verify accurate depiction and appropriate use of products and services, particularly in clinical settings
Begin the review process through the compliance portal and the regulatory page on The Beat.
Standard submission requires four final versions:
- English audio and/or on-screen text with no subtitles
- A version with no on-screen text or subtitles to support translation, including the final script
- A version with embedded subtitles
- An SRT file and a VTT file to enable captioning on or off
Deliver final files by uploading them to the designated Box folder. Confirm all external agencies have full access to Box before the video shoot to ensure timely delivery.
Video production fundamentals
Certain aspects of the filmmaking process are unique to GE HealthCare and must be considered when producing video content.
Casting

We proudly employ colleagues and serve patients across ages, body types, abilities, races, ethnicities, genders, religions and cultural backgrounds.
Reflect this diversity intentionally in casting to ensure our videos present an authentic and realistic representation of the communities we serve.
Uniforms and props

When filming colleagues at work, use uniforms with current branding whenever possible.
Ensure no third-party logos or branding are visible, including on clothing, laptops or equipment.
Clinical consultants

Include a clinical expert at every video shoot that features our products. This ensures accurate product use and compliance with health and safety standards.
Simulated environments

Design and dress the set with attention to authentic details, including realistic props and lighting that reflects the setting.
It is acceptable to film GE HealthCare products against a neutral white background to create video product block outs. These may feature the full product or a specific detail.
Filming branded products

When filming products in an environmental setting, prioritize opportunities to feature rebranded products whenever possible.
If rebranded products are not yet available, replace legacy-branded products at the first opportunity once updated GE HealthCare branding is applied.
Production safety protocols

In most simulated clinical video shoots, no actual scans are performed and no emissions are active.
In all clinical environments, include a clinical expert to confirm proper product use and adherence to safety protocols. Equip cast and crew with appropriate shielding, gloves and eye protection. Some locations may also require additional protective clothing.
Conducting interviews
Because we are grounded in expertise and evidence, on-camera interviews are a central element in many of our videos.
Hearing directly from subject matter experts, leaders, customers and patients in their own words builds credibility and trust.
Film interviews with a two-camera setup using offset angles to give editors flexibility when incorporating b-roll and shaping soundbites.
Capture clean, clear audio using equipment suited to the environment, especially in noisy settings such as trade shows.

Best practice videos
Product-centric
Product-centric videos highlight the value of our products and services. They include new product introductions, product demonstrations and explainer videos that communicate technical information and specifications.
Connect technology to human impact whenever possible. Show how innovation benefits healthcare professionals and the patients they serve.
Specialty-centric
Specialty-centric videos educate audiences about our clinical focus areas, from oncology and theranostics to women’s health and beyond.
They highlight our expertise within each care area while reinforcing how our solutions support clinicians and improve patient outcomes.
Customer testimonials
Healthcare professionals (HCPs) are key spokespeople for our brand. Videos that feature customer profiles, testimonials or case studies demonstrate how GE HealthCare supports them in achieving their goals.
Portray HCPs authentically and as respected representatives of their professions.
Patient stories
Video conveys the emotion of healthcare when sharing patient stories or care pathway case studies. Patient-focused videos are not sales tools. Consider the audience and purpose carefully. Avoid using heavy branding when it detracts from the story.
Film patients with sensitivity to their condition and diagnosis. Treat them with dignity and respect. Portray them authentically and candidly in natural home or clinical settings.
Training
Our products, services, technologies and clinical applications are complex and often require instructional video to guide proper use. Tailor content to the expertise of the intended audience. Be clear, concise and mindful of our global viewers.
Avoid featuring legacy branding in new footage. Do not highlight old branding in videos centered on technical innovation.
Corporate and institutional
When producing brand-level videos that build awareness, credibility and customer loyalty, represent the full spectrum of our customers, the patients they serve and our colleagues around the world.
Our culture
Culture videos spotlight colleagues who embody our Cultural Operating Principles and celebrate the people who power our business. We should represent a wide range of individuals, roles and locations.
Integrity guides everything we do. Through compassion, empathy and servant leadership, we advance ideas that improve patient outcomes and enhance productivity for our customers.
Events, webinars and symposiums
When filming at trade shows or other live events capture clear audio and avoid including other brands within the frame.
Webinars may be edited after the event. Maintain viewer engagement by alternating between full-frame speakers, panel views and wider shots.
For virtual events use neutral or GE HealthCare-branded backgrounds. Clarify that comments from attendees reflect personal opinions, not official endorsements.
